Hi, I'm Chao Thao, a creative producer and director based in Los Angeles.
For over a decade, I've worked across film, TV, and digital, at Sony Pictures, Netflix, and YouTube, with an MFA from USC's School of Cinematic Arts.

I came up around storytellers. I'm Hmong, and ours is an oral culture. Our history was carried, passed from one person to the next, through shared stories. That's where I first learned what a story is for. The work, for me, has always been about people: what makes a story connect, what moves me, what moves the world around me, and who it's really for.
Right now, I'm fascinated by what generative AI is doing to the creative process, and to the teams behind it. I work with these tools closely, and the more capable they get, the more I'm convinced your point of view as a creative is what matters most. The tools can move you faster. Where you're going is still up to you.
That belief shows up in everything I make, from campaigns and training to education and my own story-led projects. What really energizes me is the part that doesn't change: the people. The collaborators, the community, the creatives I get to build alongside.
So if you're building something, I'd love to hear about it! Let's chat and make something together.
